PepsiCo's chubby plastic 2-liter bottles are getting a slimmer redesign — the first in about three decades. The new bottle has an enhanced "grip point" at the bottom that's 25% slimmer than the old bottle, and the modern and functional design makes it easier to pour. In addition, the new bottle's labels use 24% less material compared with its previous iteration.
As part of a three-person design team, I was leading the structural design effort, from brand gesture translation and concept exploration to collaboration with engineers on technical challenges with carbonation.
